Posted October 20, 2020 Does anyone know if there are any companies out there that will build custom eGPU enclosures? Trying to find someone that will design and build one for a RTX 3090. Posted October 20, 2020 doubt so and if so, a outrageous price. i mean proto case does this kinda shizz (while not egpu stuff but cases are close enough right?) and their services arent meant for the average joe. also, why are you trying to run a rtx 3090 with what i assume to be a laptop? you know that like 99.99% of the time your cpu will bottleneck your gpu. Posted October 20, 2020 Author It's for a video rendering machine, because the RTX 3090 size takes up triple slots. Which doesn't leave room for an internal video capture card and the rest of the components. I can free up room if I can use an eGPU enclosure and install a Thunderbolt card. That leaves room for a Liqid Honey Badger AIC storage Card as well. The motherboard is the Gigabyte TRX40 Designer with 256GB of RAM. Considering will have over 16k invested in this build don't mind paying a premium on something custom for the GPU Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1259600-custom-egpu-enclosures/#findComment-14132983 Share on other sites
 Posted October 20, 2020 Why not use pci-e x16 riser cable instead of eGPU? You'll get full pci-e x16 v4 instead of ~70% x4 v3 through thunderbolt AND you won't need a separate PSU for your 3090 AND you get to keep thunderbolt for high speed external SSD. Posted November 4, 2020 Author Solved this problem by getting Gigabytes RTX 3090 Turbo. It is only a 2 slot 3090 because it uses a blower cooling system.
