Cable help, laptop screen

Hi, so I'm trying to repair my laptop screen by replacing the LCD/LED cable, now I've bought a new cable. however theres this other cable (red arrow) that's attached to the one I'm trying to replace and I'm not sure how it connects to it or what its purpose is, if anyone is able to identify it and let me know how it works and its use I would be grateful

That cable is used for the webcam, mic, and sometimes wifi antenna.

In my experience you shouldn't take it out unless you absolutely have to or need to replace the entire lid.

It is usually held down with a sort of double sided tape, making it hard to remove, and even harder to put back. Also in my experience actually putting the webcam back in place where it needs to be has been a pain in the butt.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Also replacing the LCD cable is sometimes impossible depending on the model, sometimes requiring you to replace the whole panel.

So unless you can cleanly seperate the cable from the back of the panel and the mobo, and already have a replacement cable, then I don't know if you are doing the right thing.

I can remove the lcd cable just fine, it's just that cable is attached to it, I dont know why it is, its connected up to the webcam so i would guess it's for that, but as I dont need the webcam, am I fine to just  basically cut it off?

No, you don't just cut cable, and by attached you probably mean "I can pull it up with a fine edged spudger" /s

Have you ever heard somebody say to just cut the cable to fix things?

Yes some laptops aren't repair friendly, but I haven't heard of a non-apple product that wasn't impossible to repair something like a cable.

I'm not asking if I can fix the lcd cable by cutting the other one,  but if I do not need the other one, I can surely just cut it off... and no I can easily pull it out just like the ribbon cable from your keyboard...

I didn't say it is as easy as a keyboard ribbon cable, but just chopping stuff off your laptop isn't a good idea. (Remov

I said it is using something sticky to lay on the inside of the lid. TBH if I had my hands on the laptop I would fix it in 30 minutes, but here I am ignoring my econ teacher to help people on a tech forum.
