This only started happening over the past 2 days... And it only did it twice... My computer wouldn't blue screen. The graphics card would kick the fans into maximum RPMs, and I couldn't see anything on the screen, and then my computer would just reboot

if your virus scan comes back all clean, try unplugging your power cord to your pc, hold down the power button for about 30 to 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

I just did a quick scan with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) and it turned up all clean...would it be worth while to do a full scan?

possibly, if you want to be super duper sure that your computer is clean, id go for it. I usually do a full scan once every month just cuz why not. If you dont feel like it, you can try what i said (not that its guaranteed to fix it) but would definitely be a lot quicker than a full system scan to try.

If the fans ramp up then it could be overheating? Get HWMonitor and check the idle then stress test temps.

has it just started doing this, or has it done this for a while? if its bene doing this for a while then i would definitely also recommend checking your PSU, but if it just started then you either picked up a bug, or could be something hardware wise.

You would check if you have enough power for whatever youre doing

do you have the stock cooler on your GPU just to make sure the isn't any overheating

i really do trust Microsoft Security Essentials with my viruses scans i use kaspersky internet security i won't recommend it to you because it's kind of expensive so try to look for better free anti virus

did you overclock you cpu is it 100% stable and when i say that i mean 24 hours of stress testing if you did overclocked it turn the overclock down just to see if the rig gets stable

it is the stock WindForce Cooler from Gigabyte...

yes, the CPU clock is 100% stable

ok so get back to stock clocks and see if the problem Continues because i have seen the problem when you overclock you cpu and it's 100% and after 4 mounts it's not stable then i have to either increase the voltage or decrease the clocks

let's hope it won't

it happened again, after checking "WhoCrashed" it says this

"crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\030814-27846-01.dmp

This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x99B2BC)

Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFFA800E2E94E0, 0xFFFFF8800FDC62BC, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009A, 0x4)

Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys

product: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.93

company: NVIDIA Corporation

description: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.93

Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.93 , NVIDIA Corporation).

Google query: NVIDIA Corporation VIDEO_TDR_ERROR"

So I am going to check for updates on my drivers
