I have a SSD (Samsung 840 Series 120Gb). When i open up HD Tune and check the health of my drive, i see this error message highlighted, with the status marked as 'attention'. This has me a little worried. I have heard this might be due to the cables not being connected properly or even damaged - so i hooked up a new SATA cable to it. Ever since doing it, i have not seen a difference because my the error count was at 4 before and now it has gone up to 6. What could be causing this? Is there anything else i could do? Thanks.

Run a different test, then if persists move the data and format the drive. If you still get the problem than you should RMA it.

I'd like to chime in. I am having the same issues on a Samsung 840Evo 750GB. If you run a speed test in HDtune, it flucuates from 540MB/s to sometimes 80MB/s. I believe the drive has to be failing. It has been climbing steadily and also noticed the bios is switching speeds from SATA 2 to SATA 3 a couple times a second. very strange.

From 22 error counts to 151. Still seems to be running fine though.

I have never installed the magician software since buying the SSD about a year ago. Is it strongly recommended to install it? Because if it's not i rather not have it on my system.
