How do I RAM?

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

DDR = Double Data Rate

1500MHz x2 = 3000MHz

DDR RAM performs two operations per clock cycle. The RAM is actually running at 1500MHz, but double data rate makes that an effective clock of 3000MHz, which is what is advertised and generally how RAM speed is measured. Yours is running at the correct speed.

Hi all,

Sorry if it is a bit of an odd question or maybe relative simple but I am struggling with the following. I have never actually paid attention to my RAM until someone pointed out my RAM was slow at like 1059 MHZ en I should get new RAM. So I checked my RAM to look what I had and it was the Corsait vengeance at 3000MHZ according to the stick and the product I bought.

So I digged a little bit into it, and I heard in a video of JayZTwocents I had to enable XMP in order to receive the advertised speed. So I have enabled XMP but I am still getting only half of it, what am I missing to receive to advertised speed?

CPU: 8600K

Motherboard: Prime z370-A

Beneath this mask there is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof.

that is the right speed. DDR stands for Double Data Rate mean that the ram runs twice as fast.

Ah thanks for that , I did not know this.
