Laptop energy system thing

Stampkonijn

How does the laptop energy system work? (6-cell, 8-cell) is it just that the higher number is better?

not necessarily.

In fact, in order to know exactly what is the electrical performance, you should read reviews or test yourself

Some laptops have half the battery running times than laptops with half the battery cells or capacity. One reason is using the software correctly - see the case of Apple products with the very tuned OSX which is built to match the precise hardware they are using

Another reason is the quality of the product and how much the manufacturer invests in the energy efficiency. An obvious example is what was before the dual GPUs with Optimus and Enduro - you got a laptop with a dedicated GPU that ran constantly and wasn't very energy efficient which made battery performance lower, even if you had an integrated GPU

Now, the dedicated power hungry GPU is used only when it is really needed (in theory at least)

Why are you asking?
