Computer keeps restarting after installing another stick of the exact same RAM

I have an HP Omen Obelisk Desktop (875-1xxx).

The system specs are as follows:
Motherboard: Proprietary HP motherboard. Running

wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,serialnumber,version

returned

Manufacturer	Product SerialNumber	Version
HP 8509 PJBCP0DK9D5A6W	00

Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processors

RAM: 32GB with 2x16GB HyperX FURY DDR4 @ 2666MHz (came with computer, it's 2666 according to "wmic memorychip get speed")

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super (PCIe)
Power supply: 750W proprietary HP power supply (80 Plus Premium)

Storage: 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD and (installed by me) 1TB HDD

I purchased this computer in March of this year. The hard drive was installed in April.

The RAM I'm trying to install: Amazon link - it's HyperX FURY DDR4 @ 2666MHz. I only put one in my computer, the other is for my brother's.

The motherboard has four RAM slots. The first and third are where the initial RAM was installed. I tried putting the new RAM stick into both slots. Both times, they correctly clicked into place (this was my first time installing RAM but I'm 99% sure I did it right) but when I plugged my PC in again and turned it on, it kept restarting. Over and over. I let it sit for about 15 minutes, but it kept restarting so I had to take out the new RAM. After I took it out the computer booted up first-time without restarting.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Shut down the pc and clear the cmos.

Then install the new memory.

See if that helps.

Try clearing your CMOS:

  • Unplug your computer.
  • Remove the button cell battery on your motherboard.
Carefully use a screwdriver to push the tab next to the battery, it should pop right out.
Replacing CMOS Batteries in Old PC's – PC Restorer
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Put the button cell battery back in.

That's impossible. It might be covered by your graphics card, or it might look something similar to this:

You'll just have to remove the graphics card. You can use the CMOS jumper, though I do not know where it is located on your particular board.

@PorkishPig Restarted PC again and now it says 36.6 GB, any idea why? I thought I was buying legitimate RAM, it had so many good Amazon reviews.

Try booting just with your new memory, remove your 2x16 kit.

Swap your 2x8 kit into slots 1, 3 and try booting. If it boots, install your 2x16 kit into slots 2, 4.

Clear your CMOS again and boot with the slot configuration I recommended.

@PorkishPig still nothing

Install your 2x16 in 1, 3 and clear your CMOS again. Make sure you're holding your power button for 15 seconds, otherwise the CMOS won't be cleared. It's possible that slots 2, 4 are defective.

Make sure your graphics card is properly secured the PCIe slot, and that the power connectors are connected correctly.
