Bad vm performance

hey guys,

 

I'm needing to run a vm of seed ubuntu for University and i have a 2017 13inch macbook pro which i have dual booted with windows 10. well my problem is i'm using virtual box 6.1 cause its free and well on windows the vm runs smooth and couldn't tell i'm using such a low spec machine, well as soon as i go over to mac and run the same vm with the same settings such as core allocation ram allocation etc  it lags like crazy it feels like its running at 15fps its so horrible any one got any ideas????
