I'm building a computer for gaming, and like the title says, it's my very first build. I've gone through things like socket types, PCIe compatability, RPM's, and other such things, but my 2 main concerns are power and space.

 Here's my build:

Case: Rosewill Galaxy 02

Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

Processor: AMD FX 8350 (codename Vishera)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 2TB mechanical HDD

Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-24B1ST, a pretty basic DVD reader and burner

Monitor: Acer 24" LED, can't remember the model

PSU: Rosewill stallion 600w

Memory: Kingston Hyperx Blu 8GB (1 x 8, for future upgrading )

Wireless Adapter: Rosewill RNX-N300X

Graphics Card: MSI R9 280x Gaming Edition(comes with a free copy of battlefield 4 at the moment)

This whole thing, including shipping comes up to about 1181.60 which is BARELY within my budget.

And before you go suggesting them, yes I might pick up an aftermarket heatsink, but that's only a maybe.

I think I also picked up a fan splitter somewhere along the line, I'm not sure, newegg is down for me and my cart got emptied. I'm just kinda guessing here.

so yeah, that's the I'm build shooting for. I really just want some advice with this build.

So will I have enough power for all of my parts? Will all of my parts even fit? Is there some other glaring issue that I'm just not seeing? Let me know, respond to this post because I'm really anxious to start building this rig.

Thanks in advance, cheers

If you go here: http://pcpartpicker.com/ and select system build, you can put all your parts in and it will tell you the estimated wattage on the right side of the page.

you can never go wrong with a corsair psu :D

This is good, but would try and bump it up to a 990fx board,

Wow guys, thanks for all of the replies! I just left for a minute to get a bowl of cereal and suddenly half the planet's replied to me xD

A quick question though: If I use pcpartpicker, will I still get the benefits of the seller? Like individual warranties and the free copy of bf4 my graphics card comes with, things of that nature

Just for future reference for someone to know that you responded to them you need to quote them :D

PCPP will show the places which the parts are from so that it is as cheap as possible and it would most likely keep any offers. Though I may suggest trying to buy from only one place as you would get cheaper shipping with all of your stuff in one/two boxes instead of 4-5.

Also, if you can in your build, try and include a SSD, biggest improvement i can see being made to all of these builds being posted right now. Kingston is a good brand that has a nice 120gb ssd that is good for your OS. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820721107

Yeah, I figured the same. It just seems more convenient to get everything in the same place and I've heard a lot of good things about Newegg's shipping policies.

It's no offense to any of you, I think I'm just going to stick with Newegg(once it starts working). PCPP is a really helpful utility, thanks to everyone for showing it to me.

Yeh Newegg is really good in the US, it's a shame they don't ship worldwide, the only flaw (and quite major actually) I see with them. 600Ws, btw, will be plenty enough for a R9 280X, though you might want to consider getting a larger one if you want to CrossFire later on.

I do quite want an SSD if possible, if only to try it and experience the performance boost, probably in conjunction with a normal HDD(popular combo nowadays)

Also, is anyone else's Newegg messing up? When I go to Newegg's site, none of the pictures load and a lot of the javascript elements are bugged, turning everything into text:

I'm thinking about rebuilding this rig from the ground up, using some of the suggestions you've all given me. I know what processor I want and I know what GPU I want, but I may need a full ATX board for the most upgrading capacity because running a couple 280x's crossfire would be pretty cool.

More RAM is another obvious upgrade.

most ram you would need is 16, youd be fine with 8 though.

Yeh well If you want to CrossFire than you should definitely get a larger PSU, most probably a 800/850W one (though I'm not an expert in power supplies). Go for an ATX board, you'll need it to CrossFire.

Crossfire is not a viable option in my near future, but I like to keep my options open.

and yeah, if I can get one for a good deal, a full ATX board would be superb

The MSI 970A-G46 looks good, it has support for 2-way CF but is $15 more. Though you might want to look into the mobo @CoolBeans suggested, it's very good and at the same price as the MSI, it's on sale atm so that's why is't so cheap. I'd say you should definitely get the Gigabyte one, just because it has better features and is the same price as the MSI. .

Not even Amazon?

The G46 has issues with fx 8 cores. I'd avoid it if possible.

Is the Asrock 990fx extreme3 any good? It comes with all the fan headers that my case needs and several PCIe slots, which is good. It also has a heatsink on both bridges and the VRM's. It's in a bundle with my 8350 right now for 284, which I think is a pretty good deal
