Mic not working

I recently build a new pc and I can’t seem to figure out how to be able to use my headsets mic. The motherboard I’m using is the Asus Maximus Formula XII.

 

When I plug the headset into the line in I can hear the audio yet my mic doesn’t work, when I connect my headset to mic in and line out I don’t get any audio.

 

Is this a windows error? If so what do I do

Oh sorry, when I plug my headset into line out the audio works, doesn’t work when I’m line in

You need a audio jack splitter, The ports on your motherboard can only do one or the other, not both.

Would I need a three way splitter or just a two way?

Two way, it takes the mic input and the audio output and splits it.
