Minecraft Server EXTREME Lag

Hello! I host a Minecraft server from my personal computer for my friends sometimes and I started a new one yesterday. While I was playing with just 1 person with 8gb of ram dedicated to the server, it suddenly started lagging very bad for my friend and somewhat laggy for me. What could cause this? I use Paper 1.15.2 with a couple plugins.

how many entities are there? too much animals?

when my farm had too many animals, the bandwidth can go up to 20mbps

 

is your upload speed stable? how many users?

I just killed all the entities so there aren't that too many, the upload speed isn't incredibly stable, and the most players I've had is 4. I also tried throwing the server on my laptop and it was still very laggy. It uses WiFi and my desktop uses ethernet

i've hosted for 6 and even with huge amount of entities, the cpu usage isnt that high, so i doubt it's that problem

maybe it's just your upload speed not being stable enough, or not enough bandwidth
