Budget (including currency): Best bang for buck

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, and general use for uni work, light programming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rGg6wh No peripherals needed, upgrading a fx-6300 based system.

Honestly I don't like this new format up top, my friend is planning to upgrade their PC soon because the old one is still rocking a Fx-6300(tm) and we're noticing some issues now. Also the PSU and stuff is pretty bad, so we decided to keep her GTX 1080 and refresh the rest of the system with a modern twist. My friend has a max budget of like £700, for CPU, RAM, Mobo, SSD, PSU... We have peripherals + GPU. It's primarily used for gaming, their monitor is 60fps, 1080p ultrawide, which I know is capping the 1080's performance, they will probably upgrade in the future, but for now, we'll keep with it.

I just came here for advice on what we could change to lower the budget or make it more bang for buck. Maybe save some money on mobo?

Anyway thanks guy, appreciate the help

I think you're pretty much already at bang for buck territory. You might be able to shave some off the mobo by going with a B450, but personally, I don't think the minimal cost savings would be worth the trade.
