LG Monitor flashes black

I just recently purchased the LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Ultragear and honestly, im loving it. The 1440p is a huge upgrade from the 1080, and I can run 144hz properly. The only issue i have having is every time i play a YouTube video full screen or go into a game my screen turns black for about 3 seconds. I am inclined to think this has something to do with the HDR setting, since every time it happens a HDR symbol is in the upper right hand corner. I do have HDR enabled for games and videos and am wondering if there is a setting I can change to fix the annoying black outs.
