Budget (including currency): £1500-£1800

Country: England

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I love Multiplayer FPS games, but have recently gotten into playing graphically intense single player games (like Red Dead Redemption 2 for a little me time). This would mainly only be used for gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

So, saving up for this should take up to 5 months depending on how much I save per month. This would be my second build and to describe my first: tacky and thrown loosely together but it does the job! My next build will be a massive upgrade for me, however I am so open to changing any and every part depending on what people may think is best! I have two monitors, both 1080p 144hz as well.

I have an idea for a build I quickly whipped up in PC part picker:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
  • Noctua NH-D15 CHROMAX.BLACK 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler
  • ROG strix B550-E Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
  • Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case
  • EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
  • Asus Geforce RTX 2070 8GB

Any advice would be so helpful, I understand how to build computers but in all honesty it's getting hard to keep track of what is best!

If you need any more information please ask, I will answer what I know!

Thanks :)

If it's going to take 5 months to save up, you are almost certainly best waiting for the new AMD/Nvidia GPUs and Zen 3 ryzen later in the year. If you want to plan ahead, start looking into B550 boards. Generally they should be better than low end X570, with better VRMs and often more features. MSI's lineup looks very promising, but check all the reviews that should start coming out in the next few days.

As far as case, meshify C is a solid choice. PSU is fine, and CPU cooler is also a solid choice.

In short, try and wait, however it's always worth keeping an eye on pricing in case you get any great discounts on CPU/GPUs

Hope this helps :)
