So I've got a WD Blue SATA SSD 2280 2TB here in a MSI MEG Z390 ACE LGA 1151 300 series motherboard, sometimes it registers it and sometimes it doesn't. I've managed to boot into it perfectly fine, install windows and programs, it works completely fine, but at times when I restart, it randomly stops reading it and I'll have to restart until it recognizes it again. What am I missing here?

Is it fully in the M.2 slot? Have you tried a different slot? Also have you updated to the latest bios on your motherboard?

from what I can tell it's fully in, it was in the third slot initially and I movied it to the first slot since it was doing what it's doing now in the other one.

and it came with the latest bios

I would try contacting Western Digital about an RMA, it could very well be a faulty drive.

Seems likely, will just get it refunded if no one else manages to comment with somethin that works

Try CrystalDisk Info, and see what it says if it says the disk is fine it very well could be the motherboard’s M.2 slot is faulty. You could also buy a PCI-E card to slot it into and bypass the M.2 slot on the board.
