welcome to the LinusTechTips forums and the water cooling section!

is it worth it? money wise, nope.

hobby/enthusiast, could be.

doing it for the know-how it can be done, yes

none of this is necessary. it is purely e-peen and chest-beating. but on the other hand,

if you have regards in having nice looking things that can perform on their edge, then

most do enjoy plunking down hard-earned cash to own it, it is most certainly worth it.

what are your expectation when doing this?

Thanx for welcoming me to the forum also

im a gamer and game designer (in training) i want to push my system more but my current cooler is annoying me as it dont perform as well as i no other closed loops have. erm i want to make my system look as nice as possible as well as having the best performance cooling as i can afford. im not entire sure what you mean when you say what are my expectations. but from what i have been told is a custom waterloop is better than any AIO but im not sure by how much and if its worth the addtional amount of cash splashed on a custom loop when there is the swifttech h220 which is expandable. if the performance difference is minimal i.e. 3/5'c difference from the custom loop i posted to the swifttech h220 ill stay with the h220 and save my self moeny. if the difference is 10/20'c from customloop to h220 ill look at buying the custom loop as it means i can push my system further when working in different applications. also if the custom is deffonetly worth going for over the h220 whats the temp difference between the to different waterblocks i posted as again if its only a few degrees i will save me self some money and buy the slightly cheaper one. if the temp difference is allot etc i will spend the addtional amount. hope this is clear enough as im not always good at explaining.

yeah, you kinda got the expectations thing. were you looking for 3-5° better or

30-40° better temps? although no guarantees on amounts of thermal control,

custom water cooling can reduce the temperatures enough to raise the performance

levels to almost best. but again, depends on ability, cooling hardware and devices.

example: using a H100i peak OC is 1.42vCore @ 80° A=23° (2700rpm fans) same

system on custom loop including GPU 1.42vCore @ 68° A=28° 360x 60+240x 60 rads

at 1100rpm fan speed. takes 1.25hr to temperature stabilize vs. H100i 30mins.

only thing about the expandability of the H220 has some feedback on gains on other

forums. a couple have done the deed here, and sorted success.

Thanx for the reply i fink i understanf what you mean im taking from what you have said custom loop is better generally can give people a better performance comapared to standord aio systems. Iv managed to price up a custom loop system for around £20 more than the h220 by chnging my resovoir to a different brand same capacity erm and changing my hoses so i think i shall go for the custom loop as it will be more interesting as i can see it coming together my self :) and from what i can undrstand it gives me more freedom to upgrade and cool allot more in the future :) thanx for the replys this forum has helped me in the last few posts more than the other forums iv been asking on hsve in the last 3 days :D
