OK.

How will you connect the UDM to the additional AP upstairs?

There are 2 ethernet ports next to each other by the tv. 1 ethernet from modem in garage to udm and 1 from udm to switch in garage where all the ethernet cables come together.

So UDM in living room otherwise lots of lost signal to front yard and garage.

This should work good I think?

That should work! I was wondering if you had a dual-ethernet outlet to neatly run the UAP up-link to the UDM separately.

Looking forward to hear how your setup goes. Enjoy the project! And make sure to utilize the Ubiquiti Community forum if you’re having technical difficulties.

I'll be doing another project: improving the wifi at my parents house. Same base case: not enough coverage and speed. A couple of uap ac lites should do the trick just fine (we can run wires, luckily). I was wondering if I should install a edgerouter x or just connect the AP's to the current ISP modem/ router. For around 50€ its kinda hard to not do it. But I don't want to overcomplicate it. They don't care for any of the additional functionality. As long as the wifi is good enough :)
