I'd have to agree. Unfortunately, I was in a situation where I had to upgrade last week, and what I originally planned to be a $1000 upgrade, has hit $1,500 and I'm not done. Pretty much because a majority of the parts I was originally looking at were sold out on places like Amazon, Newegg, BHPhoto, and a lot of the "more expensive" hardware was still left. So I had to tweak my prices and decided that I'd spend the extra, and just set myself up for another good 1-2 years and sorta future-proof. The only thing that was readily available was the Ryzen CPUs (if you're going with Ryzen instead of Intel). But after I had already dipped x2-3 my budget into the motherboard, I just opted to go Ryzen 9.

And since a lot of parts were sold out,it sort of limits what "perfect" look you're going for, and you have to settle for something that may seem a little less appealing to you. And if you're going to upgrade, you may as well buy the parts YOU want ( RGB/Color/Etc ).

Just now, BlueScope819 said:

I've been having a similar problem, I've been trying to create some good parts lists for both my friends and myself, and I can't get accurate pricing because it's sold out everywhere. Medical masks are, in fact, more important than graphics cards. (Shocker, I know) 🙂

Yeah. I spent a good day looking at video cards. Because the two I liked were sold out, and one wasn't quoted to be back in stock until June - July, and I had already started getting the other stuff.

Overall, I found alternatives I'm happy with, but the price definitely went up from my original goal. It's just really hard building machines when 3-4 of the things you like are sold out and you have to start tweaking your preferences.

I'll wait until the US is "back to normal" before I do any additional purchases.
