After years I'm planning on a new build. My last build was a 3770k in 2012, so I've been out of the building game for a while.

Planned system is going to be used voor 3D Cad/rendering/simulation, video editing and some gaming. So a 3950X system is what I'm thinking of at this moment.

After watching one of the buyers guide video's last year (I don't know winch one anymore) I made a screenshot and was wondering if that setup is still relevant at this time

Saw some mixed reviews on the motherboard for instance, and I'm not sure if there are better options at this point in time.

Further more I've not decided on a monitor yet, but tempted to something ultrawide

Budget is stil not decided yet, but with a 3950X it's clearly a the higher end. Location is AB, so Canadian availability/price is a point of concern

Thanks,

JB

I'm not sure what your question is exactly, but I'm guessing it's what components you should use for the build. Using a Ryzen 9 3950x, I imagine every build containing this CPU will be $1500+. The 3950x is still a very good choice for what you are doing as there is no other higher core count CPU on desktop. I've made a build on PCPartPicker according to a budget I think is good for what you have stated you want to do with the PC: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/RshJPn

Stop waiting for something you want to become reality, you make your own destiny, and you will not achieve it unless you make it happen.
