Hello everyone,

I have been long-time lurker, but now I am in need of some advice.

An acquaintance of mine offered to sell me his used RTX 2070 Gigabyte OC for 430 CAD. He bought it used around 6 months ago and he doesn't know how long the original owner had it for.

My current PC has a 1070ti and an i7-8th gen, and I can sell my 1070ti 350 CAD in my area.

The 80 CAD difference is negligible compared performance increase, however I am concerned about the 2070 card failing (artifacting due to memory failures).
GPU-Z stats are the following:

  1. 1F07
  2. Rev A1
  3. GDDR6 (Micron)
  4. 10de 1f07 1458 37ad

I need the card for my machine learning research as well as occasional gaming (mostly AAA titles).

The box of the card says that it has a 4 year warranty and I am not sure about Gigabyte's RMA experience from Canada especially that I would be the third owner of the card.

Would you guys think it is worth the risk?

Thank you!

That price is close to the cost of the card new. Why are you worried about memory artifacting?
Gigabyte Warranty is transferable albeit not outstanding, but acceptable.

I am worried about memory artifacting in RTX 2070/2080 cards with DDR6 RAM because of the initial reports of "space invaders" artifacts after a random period of time (between a few hours of ownership up to many months).

The price of a brand new 2070 is 687 CAD tax inclusive, a 2070 Super goes for around 900 CAD.

So this card is tempting as it would cost a little over 230 CAD less, and if I were to pay that much I would just stick with my 1070ti and wait for the 3070 series.

This card has an average of 3.5 (skewed because of the artifacting complaints) star rating on e-commerce websites but it's the same rating as most 2070 cards that came out at the time.

Given that the card has been with the owner for a while (in addition to the previous owner) and the Furmark benchmarks lasted 5 hours without any issue, is it safe to assume that it has been "tried and tested"?
