Hello

For my company we are planning to upgrade the existing virtualized server and as well our solidworks workstation.

For this reason I am figuring out if we can put a Nvidia Quadro GPU in the server and connect is via GPU passthrough to the RDP (remote desktop server) server.

I think this results in native gpu performance in an rdp session with support for open GL.

In my business we are with 2 engineers and 1 solidworks license so not a crazy amount of GPU usage.

My solidworks distributer told me to use Nvidia grid systems but I think this is for GPU virtualization and spilt the gpu over multiple VM's.

This doesn't look necessary to me cause there is only 1 VM with solidworks and 1 user at any time on solidworks.

Is there anyone with some experience for a virtual workstation?

Thanks ahead!

I will admit I have no experience what so ever in what you are asking. with that being said yes this shouldn't be a problem for you as this forum is called linus tech tips and linus himself has made several videos over the course of the past 4 years or so in which he works on different things for his company which has about 20 people if I am right, including mentioning that they only need X type or amount of graphics cards for their 6 editors so that the can all be on one build.
