No display after RAM swap

Magman5

Earlier today I decided to add an additional two sticks of 8 GB DDR4 ram to my PC. Not too bad right? Just plop 'em in and go. Not the case at all. At first the sticks wouldnt register (because I hadn't put them in all ththe way) and in the middle of it tries swapping a stick to a different port without turning off my PC... yes, ik, stupid. My PC now will boot for all of 5 or so seconds, restart, and then stay on. However, the fan startup sound is slower than normal and no display is being output. Help!

Are the RAM Sticks same like the ones you had before adding new ones?

By that i mean: Same Capacity, same Speed

Yes, the exact same. I have also tried several different configurations of # of sticks and slots.

Ok, now tell me can you hear the PC beep when it boots up and do you get the no output when you are supposed to get a Windows screen or it says no output from the start boot?

PC does not beep, although the fan whirring when powering up is much more gradual than normal. I get literally 0 output as in monitor isnt registering anything.

Is your monitor connected to the MOTHERBOARD or a dedicated GPU?

Try to unplug it and replug it into both monitor and the gpu and check if all the cables are plugged in completely.

Done. No change.

Is it possible I've damaged my entire motherboard?

Try taking out the sticks you added in and try to boot.

I don't think so, if the motherboard was damaged the computer wouldn't boot at all. If it boots and gives picture on the screen after taking out the added ram it might be the ram which is faulty.

I re-inserted the original stick in the same slot and no change.

Try the other DIMM slot, maybe one of the DIMM slots is faulty.

Just swapped original stick into different slot with no affect. I did take out my motherboard to swap sticks the second time. Is there anything that couldve been jostled/unplugged that could make it restart on power up?

Why would you take out a motherboard to put in RAM? Do you have a bench with all the parts on it or a CASE with all the parts INSIDE

I was worried about bending the board, but everything is back inside atm.

You took the graphics card out before you took the board out?

Should I consider resetting the BIOS?

I was worried about bending the motherboard with the pressure it takes to put the ram back in.

You could try that, but i would first check if all the cables that are plugged in the motherboard are plugged in completely and that the GPU is connected via a 6 PIN or 8 PIN connector (if it requires one)

Also CHECK if the GPU is plugged in WELL in the PCIE Slot
