Hello after 4 years of watching LTT i come to forum for help

I have my system:

  • I7-6700k
  • 16GB ram
  • Asus maximus viii gene
  • Msi gtx 1060
  • I will sell all of them expect GPU

I am gamer also a videographer

So before people ask why? Why i want to make a multiseat system. I live with my gf 1 year now and we decide to do some upgrade we both play games (overwatch call of duty and more) and we both work the one photographer the other videographer so we have to do some editing.

With one system i have less noise in the room less heat less electric bill and less parts to buy thats why i want multiseat system.

I am looking for one good system not overkill im not familiar with multiseat so i have questions...

First what are they needs like i need 2 GPUs to be sli or just 2 random graphics will do the work one for each user?

Second for the CPU im looking for more cache or more processors?

Third 32Gb of ram will be fine for all my needs?

And last what program to use to make the multiseat

My budget only for the system looking around 1300-1450$ and the items i need is (motherboard, cpu, ram, psu)

For The cooler and the second gpu i know what i need so only for the rest i need help

Thanks for reading i dont know if my English is well written..if not im sorry

Hi there,

You need to make sure a few things:

CPU: Your CPU has to have VT-D(Intel) or AMD-V(AMD) support, otherwise you cannot share the GPU with the client OS. You also want a cpu with at least 8 physical cores (more are better for your usecase, also hyperthreading/smt).
RAM: is 15gb enough for one of you? the vm-host also needs a few gb of ram.

GPU: No Sli, just random gpus

USB Cards: You'll need those because you cannot share a single USB port with the client OS, you'll need to share the whole card, so you can still benefit from hot plugging.

OS: Unraid

And with your budget you may need to go to the used hardware market, because you should try getting older server hardware

Here is an LTT video and as per what I know you will actually need 12 core 6 for each as you guys are doing heavy works like videography and photography,

So I assume there will be heavy working of Photoshop and maybe Adobe Premiere Pro or Sony vegas whichever is your poison,

I would prefer getting a R9 3900x and for the GPU maybe a 2060 will be looking good and there will be no SLI or crossfire (incase you go AMD) you will require 2 random GPUs working differently all that is explained thoroughly in the video

All about the motherboard you need is in the video ig plus you will need two HDDs and two SSDs getting that from used hardware shops or Craigslist can be a steal deal
