Hi,

I was cleaning out the house last fall and I stumbled upon an old rig with a bit of a history.

I bought that pc in 2008 (a low budget Acer m3970) where I upgraded some parts in an otherwise very small case (15 by 12 by 8inch)

due to the factory excessive internal compartements layout.

To my knowledge only the motherboard and cpu stayed the same.

So a small form case would be preffered as it would have to stand in sight.

My goal is to have a multifunctional tv-pc where I would:

- play steam games (home stream) from my desktop pc

- media center (plex)

- play VR maybe?

- occasional CAD from the comfort of my couch without the "burning" laptop on my legs

- ...

But the kicker is that I want to salvage my old graphics card as I still believe it is descent enough in these times,

an Radeon R9 380 OC edition (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-strix-r9-380-directcu-ii-oc-4-gb.b3439).

Budget is max 500$ with the most budget to motherboard and cpu.

I have technical hands and insight, so building wont be the problem.

But the tech savvy computer specs deal is somewhat unknown territory for me for optimizing parts.

Thanks in advance!

what CPU have you got?

if you were only interested in swapping the board and no CPU upgrade, this config is a great call

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Hey,

Thanx for the response.

But sorry for the confusion.

I just said that as background info about the motherboard and cpu (not even important)

The only thing I want to put in the new build is the graphics card, all the rest new and up to date.

Also the tower is a bit on the big side,

I was more thinking in the range of Ncase M1 (from the video "The BEST Tiny CASES on the Market!" video Linus put on 3 years ago) or a Fractal Node case.

Working with a miniATX motherboard.

Thanks!
