DIY External Harddisk UPS

Hello, I have several external HDDs ranging from 1 TB to 4 TB that are rarely used these days because of this size and the dreaded WALL WART!

So anyway I plan to setup a raspberry pi as my Torrentbox and I plan to use one of these brick HDDs.

The issue is that my area has frequent power cuts everyday (random times) for 15-30mins each time. My APC 500WATT UPS is on its last string and I loathe spending too much money on these projects, so I was planning to DIY a UPS with 18650 batteries (salvaged from my old laptop batteries and power banks) and a boost converter.

I plan to use the idea from this YouTube video:

Is this feasible to power a 3.5" external HDD for 24x7 operation.

Note: I plan to boost the project with 6*18650 batteries and a output of 2amps since the HDD wall wart is 12v 1.5amps.
