Ryzen 3 2200G

msi GTX 1050Ti

asRock A320m HDV

8gb of memory

450w PSU

Computer won't boot with GPU in.  Fans spin, Lights turn on, but no display on monitor.  Works fine with integrated graphics.  The ryzen 3 only supports 12 PCIe lanes, the BIOS only has options for PCIe 1.0, or 2.0.  I know the 1050Ti works with 3.0 x8, and 2.0 x16, but we only have 12 lanes, and the motherboard is only letting us use up to 2.0, even thought the specs say it supports 3.0.\

Thanks in advance

12 PCIe 2.0 lanes is plenty of bandwidth for a GTX 1050 ti. It is compatible with this config, no issues here.

Have you tried removing the video card and just reinstalling it, ensuring that it is pressed all the way into the socket, maybe give it a little wiggle too?

Try the video card in another slot?

By chance is there a PCIe power connector on the video card that isn't plugged in?

Sometimes there is a BIOS setting that you have to change to switch to dedicated graphics.

It gets power from the motherboard.  We tried switching to dedicated graphics, and setting pcie gen to 2.0, and enabling above 4g decoding.  Still nothing

What about the removing it and reinserting it?

I see now that is only one x16 slot to trying another isn't doable.

You could also try the graphics card in another computer to ensure it isn't dead.

Also try another port on the back of the graphics card!

Good luck!

Regarding the bios only allowing you to select PCIe 2.0 even though it says 3.0 is because you are using a ryzen APU.

See Expansion slot section.

Also regarding the bios only allowing you to select PCIe 2.0 even though it says 3.0 is because the slot is wired for PCIE 2.0. Basically false advertising as far as im concerned.

So, we can fix the issue by getting a new motherboard, and or getting a CPU with more lanes, or losing the GPU

No the lanes definitely aren't the problem. Its all backward compatible. Also i edited my wording from before as it IS actually wired for PCIe 3.0. Its running in 2.0 mode because of the APU.

You can run a PCIe 3.0 x 16 video card in a PCIe 2.0 x 1 slot and it will technically work, it just will be bandwidth bottlenecked.

Right now my money is on the graphics card. Also try another port on the graphics card if you haven't already done so. And hopefully you can also test in another PC.

I was reading that 3.0 is twice as fast as 2.0, so u could use 2.0 x16, or 3.0x8.  I have seen instances of using the card in 3.0 x8, but not in 2.0 x8.

With higher tier card (2080) you may see some difference but with 1050 it really doesn’t matter.

I'm not an expert, but im certain that it is compatible. It should run in 3.0 x 8, 2.0 x 8 mode and every other combination of generation and number of lanes you can think of.

Any consumer PCIe graphics card will work on any consumer motherboard with a PCIe x16 slot wired to the CPU.

Well its worth trying updating to newer bios, just for giggles.
You already said that you tried to set the bios to dedicated graphics mode, so as far as a can think of, its probably not any bios setting.

You can clear CMOS for good measure.

My money is still on the graphics card, or one of its ports at this point.

oh, then don't do it unless there is another newer bios version that DOESN't have that warning.

You at least get a video out of the video card though?

Like you could go into bios if you wanted?

Its possibly a bad PCIe slot. Do you have another video card you could try in on you ryzen 3 2200g + A320 MOBO

If the 1050 ti doesnt get video out on the other PC, then that pretty much narrows it down..
