Recently I have been having some major problems with my router... I think.  I like to play CSGO and basically every few minutes my ping spikes to 500 and even 1000ms when normally its 50~ms. I tried logging into my router today and literally the connection is timing out.  Interference might be part of the issue but I think there is more of a problem than that. Earlier I couldn't even connect to the router via Ethernet.

I pinged my router using 64 bytes with 50 echos and got:

Minimum = 1ms, Maximum 52ms, Average = 4ms

My first attempt I got a maximum of around 450ms on one of the pings.

Is there anything I can try that might fix it?  Also is there any $50-120 routers you guys recommend

What's the router model #.

Its a modem/router combo from comcast... It actually worked rather well for a while

I have weird issues with because able to access my router sometimes. I have no idea what causes it but usually a power cycle fixes the issues with logging in.

Have you tried power cycling it at all?

Many times. I was without internet for a while until I left it unplugged for 5 minutes.

You may try to reset the router but that seems to be a hardware problem, consider replacing it

I haven't tried a factory restore but tonight I think its finally failing.

I guess I should probably get it replaced friday since its a comcast box and maybe just buy my own router.

If you get your own router your going to have to rent a modem from comcast, if you return it they should give you a new one right then and there if you go to your local comcast store center thing.

We are renting a modem from comcast anyways... so no loose.   You should see how locked down this modem/router is. It has a usb port for external hdds and such and its disabled. In fact you cant disable the router. Its always on no matter what.

Wow that sucks and I though I had it bad with TWC's throttling. If your getting a new router I'd recommend and Asus or Netgear but not the Linksys as the new ones with there cloud software are complete crap. (I own the EA6400)
