Blackscreen/Crash while Gaming

@Husky ok i think you found the guilty piece of hardware. First time running Prime95 CPU Torture i got a bluescreen after a few seconds already. Second and third time i ran a test with only two "workers" (at least thats what i can see in the Prime95 UI) and the exact same crash as in Forza Horizon and other games occurs after like 45 seconds.

Now thats a bit weird. I still don't think its a thermal problem, the CPU reaches about 60 degrees celsius right before the crash happens and thats okay i guess? But i also don't overclock, i once set some light OC Settings in Ryzen Master but i reset everything (using the Ryzen Master "Reset CPU Parameters" option in the top right corner). Any solutions other than buying a new CPU?

BTW Furmark runs for a couple of minutes now without any crashes so i think the GPU is ok.

OK this is definitely either a CPU or motherboard issue. The temperatures sound fine. Try uninstalling Ryzen Master, then rebooting into your UEFI BIOS and reset all settings to defaults (Load Optimized Defaults under the Exit tab in the advanced settings, then Save and Exit.). Then try Prime95 again.

Hi everyone,

PC Specs:

- OS: WIN10 latest Update

- GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

- CPU: Ryzen 5 1400

- MB: ASUS B350 PLUS

- RAM: 16GB AEGIS-3000

- PSU: beQuiet SystemPower 400W

- Drive: 500GB SSD/1TB HDD

Error Desc.:

Always after approx. 30 min of playing the Screen turns black. CPU/GPU/Case-Fans and Case-LEDs stay on. From there i have to hard-reset the PC. The only game i play atm is Forza Horizon 4 so i can't really tell you about the exact behaviour in other games BUT i have encountered this crash while playing other games, so i dont think its only due to Forza. Unfortunatly i cant provide any system monitoring information as the RivaTuner Overlay wont work for FH4, the CPU Temp should be around 50-55 celsius (i take these information from the bios right after the crash happens). But i think thermal wise the system should be ok as i dont overclock and use the boxed ryzen cooler, with a healthy amount of thermal paste applied. These crashes appear since i switched to the CPU, RAM and MB i mentioned above.

I updated the BIOS-FW, Ryzen Chipset Drivers, SSD Drivers and the NVIDIA Drivers (manually and through Geforce Experience). Also its a fresh windows installation without any OC-Settings applied through Ryzen Master. The crashes wont appear AT ALL when i use the computer for Internet/Office/C and VHDL Coding.

Little Error History:

As mentioned the crash appears since i updated my pc-hardware. My first thought was the PSU as i had a pretty old one which maybe couldnt handle the new system anymore, so i switched to the beQuiet-PSU but unfortunatly i didnt have any effect. I couldnt even load into the game without the pc crashing instantly. So i did some digging and asked in different forums and the solution seemed to be creating a D.O.C.P Profile with a relativly low ram frequency (standard was automatic 3000mhz as im using 3000mhz ram and i set up a profile with 2133mhz). With these settings everything worked fine for a while, i could play for hours straight with maybe one crash, which didnt really bother me. But somehow now the more frequent crashes are back, its still not as bad as it was before applying the DOCP Profile, but its still pretty annoying as i cant play more than half an hour.

I hope thats all the Information you need. The last idea i have is to reduce the ram frequency even further but that shouldnt be a real solution as this would throttle the system heavily at some point. I hope you can give me some advice here.

Can you run memtest86 for at least 30 mins and report if there are any errors?

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

@Husky Good idea. Its now running for 30 minutes with no errors, but i will let it run a couple of hours while im in school. As soon as im back home i will report again.

If it has run for 30 mins without errors, then it is unlikely that RAM is the issue.

Can you run Prime95 to test the CPU stability for 30 mins, and also Furmark after that to test the GPU for 30 mins? Furmark is extremely intense and I have seen it weed out faulty cards quite quickly before. I have also used Prime95 and Furmark at the same time to determine a power supply issue so you could try run them both at the same time if they are individually stable.
