Can i run a java mc server using a raspberry pi?

I mean the title is pretty self explanatory. And if the answer is yes, how would I do such a thing.

You can but the performance will be sub optimal with more than maybe 3 players. Also just a quick search yielded multiple guides on how to do it.

Java servers are notoriously hard to run on slower cpus because they aren't multi threaded

Install Raspbian as normal, then go to the Minecraft Wiki and follow the steps on setting up a server on Linux.

 

If it doesn't work, futz about with the settings until it does. It's a lot of trial and error since it's rarely one-size-fits-all

I would personally just run the server off of a computer that I don't use as much, or one that is powerful enough to both, run the server and play. My laptop was able to run a game and the server, allocating (I think) 4 GB of ram. We were able to have around 10 people on. And, I only had 4 cores, with 8 threads on an HQ processor.

my current pc is about as powerful as that
