Crazy gpu temperature and fan values

So i have changed the fans and thermal paste on my zotac gtx 1070 amp!, then booted the computer and msi afterburner said that idle temperature is somewhere around 45 degrees Celsius. Happily i went grocery shopping afterwards, and now i came back to some crazy numbers shown to me by afterburner which says that my temperature is around 90 degrees idle and the fan is at around 90% while having 0 mV voltage. I am sure that these values are all wrong but why on earth do i get them and how do i fix it?

Hi, yes, i tried multiple restarts and it's still the same

How long did you monitor the gpu before you left it? and did you stress test it before this happened? It almost sounds like you got a bad mount for the cooler.

I actually just looked at it for like 5 seconds and then turned off the computer. I checked if the fans are secured in place and they are. Can a thermal paste be an issue? Could it not spread on the gpu's core as it should?

Oh i just remembered that i did stress test it for like 30 seconds, if i recall it correctly the temperature was around 76 degrees (which seems normal) and i was using Furmark

A bad cooler mount could certainly cause undesirable temps and it doesn't take much. On my main rig it took 3 remounts of my gpu block and it turns out it was caused by a tiny amount of glue in the way of a mount. Anyways you could always try reinstalling afterburner before you try a remount.

Hey! So after a whole day of work it turned out that the problem was the fact that the port to which fans were connecting to the gpu board was not connected fully enough and i just had to push the fans connector down the port really hard. After that the fans are working. So crazy!
