ok so recently my 980ti has been having issues with driver crashing the drivers crash then recover and when its crashing and recovering get screen artifacting hoping card isnt dying was hoping it would hold out till the next gen cards come out was hoping the card would make it to the 5 year mark but im not sure if theirs some underlying issue that could be the problem or if the card is just on its last leg

Did you tried any troubleshooting already??
Start with DDU all drivers and reinstall them (using GeForce experience).

@Whiro tag or quote will do the trick

Steam Deck OLED 512gb , all other pc’s are gone

the problem will either be your psu or your gpu. try troubleshooting or buying a cheap gpu and test if it works, if the cheap gpu works then your 980ti is almost certainly broken.

PSU works and i swapped in my old GPU and the issue goes away and is only it ONLY does it every so often and it never hard crashes or hard locks it drivers freak out a bit w.e game im playing crashes and then after the game crashes its like nvm all fine and just goes back to working fine but seems that underclocking my cards core and memory makes it happen less frequently but it still happens from time to time never goes over 73c under full load and even ran superposition stress test for an hour but and didnt have issues but it happens in games so its something card/driver related but im not sure what it is if its drivers or the card is just cooked
