I recently decided on upgrading from my old FX8120 build and want to stay AMD. I want my rig to be able to game and do decent workloads. I work with a lot of virtual machines for my education and have dual 1920x1080 monitors for productivity. I figured a Ryzen 7 3800x would be a great option due to the core count for the virtual machines. I would like to have the option in the future to possibly start doing some enthusiast water cooling/overclocking. I for the life of me can't decide on RAM and motherboard. I keep seeing conflicting opinions everywhere I look. I think PCIe 4.0 is cool but I don't believe I need it, same with SLI graphics cards. So in the end what motherboard/RAM/video card would be best for future proofing my system for at least 5-10 years, I'd be okay with some minor overclocking?
