You don't have to spend 24 hours on each  test, You will see artifacts instantly most of the time, if not then give it a few minutes or the card to get hot.

Corsair 600T White | Gigabyte Z77-UD3H | Intel Core i5-2500k | 8GB Gskill Ares@1600MHz | Gigabyte G1 GTX970 | OCZ ZT 550 | Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB | Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB | Samsung 840 EVO 250GB (boot) | Full Custom Loop | NZXT HUE

The way I do it is I run one pass of the test think 3-5mins a pass if didnt see any artifacts I bump it till I start to see it unstable

But once I get to OverClock I am happy with ill do at least 5 passes so maybe 30mins

I am not really just staring at my screen to see if I see anything tho :p just looking at it from here and there to see if temps and no artifacts

You could just plays games in order to test whether the gpu is creating artefacts. Or run Heaven Benchmark for 30 minutes.
