Moving to SSD.

epikgamerwmp

I just got an SSD for my birthday.

Is there an easy way to move Windows 10 to the SSD with out having to clean install and then reinstall all my software?

What are these for?

EaseUS offers software to clone your existing partition.  In theory it should work fine, but there can and often are oddities that crop up when doing this.  I suppose it doesn't really hurt to try, but if you want to guarantee a clean move, you have to clean install.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

Ryan_Vicker's advice is solid.

Alternatively, if you've got a Samsung SSD, Samsung offers migration software (and many other SSD manufacturers either offer their own software or software from a company they partnered with) that you can use to clone your drive. Western Digital tends to have Acronis software you can use as long as a WD drive is installed in the system. I think Adata or another company also offers Acronis software too.

even if u could, i never recommend copying stuff from a old drive to a ssd,  just do aclean install and go from there

coz if u plain dead just copy everything, ur ssd might start defragging and what not,  well u know because every setting is also copied then

I'd make the argument that if you've had the incredible patience to continue using a HDD for boot all this time then you can easily bear to do a clean install ?

I don't mind doing a clean install of Windows, it is the reinstalling of all my software that I don't want to do.

SSD's don't defragment.

Copying is perfectly viable, with appropriate cloning software.

if u copy all of ur settings + windows, the settings will still be set to old main hdd settings, and if it has defrag there it will have that setting even on the ssd

coz if u copy , it will just see c as c drive
