Connection issue

I have a dell optiplex with a few mods but it has an internet issue,

 

when i put the lan cable in the router my internet works just fine, however when i put it into the lan port on my wall it doesnt work the lights in the lan port in my pc dont even turn on The router is a XyXel router

Sounds like a cabling issue with the wall socket. Where is the other end of the wall socket connected to?

I am assuming that you are plugging the ethernet cable from your router to the Optiplex for testing and that works. If that is the case then it is most likely an issue with the run.

 

Do you have any additional runs in the house? If so try testing with another wall port.

Can you figure out what port on your router (or switch) that the wall port is connecting to? If so try switching it to another open port on your router.
