Steam not connecting

So the steam on my computer hasn't connected to the internet in over a week, I have no clue why, but it won't. I can sign into my profile on steam's website and I re-downloaded steam, even this did nothing. Any ideas on what's wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you submitted a support ticket to Steam yet? They respond relatively quickly, and are usually pretty helpful. Usually what I do is reboot my Computer, and that fixes it, but that's just me. If that doesn't work try a Support ticket.

Took them two weeks to respond to me and they weren't even remotely helpful.

Have you checked if your firewall is blocking steam?

So I changed the access privileges for steam from "auto" to "allowed" in my firewall, and it worked. I feel very dumb ._.

for other people who didn't find the source you can turn steam manually off- and online I would try that.
