Hey guys,

Would love to get everyone's thoughts on this potential BF hunting list for a new Tower. I'm not traditionally an RGB kind of builder but I really liked the looks of the Antec Avenger case. My current machine is from 2012: I7 2600k, Radeon 7990, corsair 850w Plat, 16gb DDR3, couple ssd's. It came to my attention that an RX590 would be the highest upgrade I could do on my aging rig, however even at that, it wouldn't get me an ideal experience with a 2560x1080p 34 wide monitor. Any advice would be much appreciated! The older tower would go to my gf for LoL and maybe Lost Ark if it ever comes out.

1500$ Cad before tax is usually what I like to spend, and I could trim some flashy things off here to get there, but was hoping BF might help that out. Thoughts?

Do you already have the ultra wide? because 1440p 100-120hz would be a lot better for a 34" monitor.

Should look for 3200mhz CL14-CL16 or 3600mhz CL16 RAM, CL18 really won't be much faster despite a potential price increase.

Why not a 500GB SSD + 2TB hard drive?

Should really go for anything that isn't a blower cooler

You really don't need to go above a decent gold rated PSU

And there are plenty of cheaper RGB fan options, but do you even really need that many fans? The stock fans seem good enough in that case.

Or just get a coolermaster H500

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Hi StreetGuru,

Thanks for the notes. I already have the 1080p ultrawide monitor. It's the LGuc79g-b. I got it for 550 a few months ago and I don't honestly notice pixel density since I came from a 24' Dell 1920x1200 monitor from 2012. I actually love it for how much it cost and am happy with it for LoL.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to RAM. I'll definitely look into the lower CL latency numbers you've described. Thank you!

For the hardrive, I was going to do a 500NVME and another SSD, but I thought for the price I mind aswell put all the dollars in NVME. but I could tack on a mechanical if needed.

Nice GPU, updated

I do have an older Corsair HXi850 plat in my current tower. Even though its 8 years old I could probably get a cheaper gold psu and switch it out. Plat is kinda overkill in either I guess, could skim some dollars here.

And yes, these RGB fans were really just for looks. This is just ideal for fun, but really not needed for this build.

Appreciate it.

B
