Actually just seen the prices of the RX480 8gb       i might go that way as the size of the card wont be a limiting factor     its never going to push polygons its all compute work.

If anyone can just recommend a good cheap  PSU   i can finish this most horrid of builds

For budget builds, I would look at the Corsair CX or vengeance series.

It's not dirt cheap, but it's about as cheap as you'd want to go for reliability.

Double check that your software isn't relying on the CUDA cores from your nVidia GPU.

If so, the 1660Ti is pretty much your best bet.

If not, the RX 580 is a very well priced unit.

Hi

I have a number of Z220 i7 3770 pcs  all SFF,  now i was waiting for the 1650ti to come out but given the lack of news or updates about this card i feel it may be a bit rubbish like the 1650.

I am limited in the size of the PC cases  but heard you can add an additional PSU to a system     and a small molex powered board  means the extra PSU turns off and on.

Now from looking the 3770 is about max with a 1070  so i have been looking at the 1660ti     they are only used in davinci resolve studio  and are for timeline performance  renders     never games.  I am still on 1080p workflows and use low profile 1050ti  but these are struggling with red giant  plugins.

I have already purchased PCI x16 riser cables   ready but i am really struggling to find a decent priced PSU      the PSU is only to power the GPUs     I need 2   as one for the main editing machine and 1 for the Render server.

There is 2 PCI e slots on these machines   but i am guessing adding 2 on each machine is a waste of time  as if its can just about use a single 1660ti  the rest is a waste of money.

Please could anyone give some advice to a reliable PSU   as this market is really confusing  that i can power 2 1660ti at most on each machine.      I am looking for the molex to 24 pin boards as i type this ( multi tasker )

I know this is a janky setup   but i am never selling these PC's on    its literally just within my budget to replace the 1050tis with better cards unless someone can recommend a better card for the money.

Happy to use Open CL as long as the card has the same performance as a 1660ti or 1070.     its solving the issue of the PSU    so it works  for the gpus outside of the cases.

I am more than happy to be flexible on the actual gpu side of it as the size of the card wont matter

I will take a look today.    Yeah i dont want to spend stupid money on a PSU  as its only for the GPU  nothing else   as the server case is going in this weekend the gpus will have own air intakes along with the PSU's

The Z220 are pretty decent machines  i7 3770    32gb ram  fully ssd    PCI-e 3    Usb 3    i do have a 8 thread xeon version as well as my NAS with ecc 32gb

The issues with benchmarks is  its always game based  never davinci or prem pro performance as part of the reviews       I am really liking the prices of the rx590 8gb    however if i check its performance then the 1660ti blows it out of the water but about 30%     the cpu market is pretty clear    its the gpu market that is a bit muddy.

I cant decide if 8gb of vram is better than 6gb for editing   as any information is the 580 against the 1080ti     I do use alot of plugins   VFX and colour grading.  or ge tthe 580/590 and add another bank of cards later  but i dont think sli or cross fire works that way  as that would be a cheap route to 16gb of vram for editing
