I've recently started working for a surveying company that processes pointcloud scans. I am relatively new to this field but the program we use (RiScan Pro) runs incredibly slow. I wanted to get an idea and see if the components my company uses in our computers is out of date, and if so see if we can do anything to upgrade our workstations.

CPU: Intel i7 4790k

GPU: Nvidia Quadro K2200

RAM: 16GB DDR3

I believe everything is run off of a 500GB SSD.

When running the scans, is the cpu usage at 100%? Are you running out of RAM? etc.
