I have a desktop that was working perfectly fine and is brand new. I built it myself. I added a GPU and more RAM too it. In the process, I had to temporarily remove my CPU in order to add the RAM because the CPU fan was in the way. I just wanted to rotate the fan so it was not in the way. I accidentally broke one of the pins off the CPU but I read that it may still work. I do not believe that would stop the computer from powering on either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I need a whole new motherboard from trying to power on the computer while a CPU with one pin broken off was plugged into it?

What error does your mobo tell you? The leds on the upper right on your motherboard when you try to power on. Or nothings happens what so ever?

If the cpu socket of the motherboard is not visually damaged, then probably it is not the motherboard at fault. Chances are cpu can still work without a ground pin (that is if the pin broken is a ground). Generally rotating cpu fan does not involve removing cpu from its socket. I'm just speculating. Bringing your pc to a pc shop can help you better understand what happened. They have more parts in store to help you figure out what is broken. Usually they test each component of your pc individually, in your case your motherboard and cpu.

no but the CPU could be damaged.  If it's not working now, that would be my going theory given the pin story.

I did not purposely remove the CPU. It was stuck to the CPU fan because of the thermal paste. When I tried putting the CPU back on I broke one of the pins off. Looks like just one. I then attempted putting it on again even with the broken pin and it seems like it is in place but now all of a sudden my computer just wont start up at all. I changed nothing else and I made sure all the plugs are still connected.
