Performance is usually slightly better with two sticks rather than four, although I'd be surprised if you could tell the difference in normal use.

It's definitely possible, but I'd be concerned if your motherboard can take all 4 sticks in one go. I run 4 sticks of Corsair LPX 2400MHz in a 4x4GB array on 3000MHz fine on my PC.

 

By comparison, my brother also uses a 4x4GB setup on his PC but can only achieve 2833MHz instead of the targetted 3000MHz that the kit is rated for.
