Help me pick RAM

Please make this decision for me!

 

2 choices. Both 32 GB. Both Gskill. Both 4x8 DIMMs. Being used on Ryzen 3600. Usage: Photo editing on 1 monitor with Chrome on 2nd monitor. I can get up to about 20 gb at a time with all my apps running, but there's no way to order 16 gb and 8 gb of the same RAM to give myself 24 gb. It seems I either can get 16 or 32 gb. I also want to game but my work usage takes priority.

 

Here are my choices 

 

3200  16-18-18 for $150

 

3600  16-19-19 for $175

 

Is 3600 worth the price premium? Is it $25 faster?

I'll probably get schooled by someone else on here, but imo save yourself $25 and just get the cheaper set. Synthetically, sure the more expensive one might be faster but will you be able to tell? Unlikely.

You really can't go wrong with either, but if the 3600 kit is really only $25 more, you might as well get it. The only reason I'd save the $25 is if that was make or break for the budget of a more important component.

From what I've read, ram speed matters a little for Photoshop (up to 10% or so from Puget systems testing [2666 vs 3600mhz]), but as stylized_violence said, while you be able to tell the difference? How much of your time editing is actually spent waiting on rendering/processing?

Not much actually. I'm running 2133 ram now

I'd go with the cheaper ram. $25s of coffee will do more for my productivity than 5% faster photoshop filtering.

And this is the correct way it should be!

3200Mhz is just fine.
