Hi again :D,

Recently in my bid to purchase a new computer I have come to yet another halt with the release of the 3900x. At the time of writing I am waiting for the price of the 3900x to slightly decrease before I create my main build / workstation, so, as a temporary build (might become a htpc at some point) I am building a £500 computer for my online courses, games and light cad and photoshop. The system so far is

CPU : Ryzen 5 2600

CPU COOLER : stock

RAM : ?

MOBO ASRock Master SLI ATX

GPU : Referbished / pre owned 1060

SSD : Samsung 860evo 500gb (Currently owned)

HDD : 1TB segate baracuda (Currently owned)

PSU : 500w EVGA silver+

CASE : ?

However, as you can tell by the title I am need for RAM. I'm not sure what mhz to buy as I know gen2 is very picky with RAM and I only have a tight budget of £100-£125s for it. Preferably I would also like 2x8gb if that's possible - any recommendation welcome :D (idc about rgb etc for this build)

Other than that I am wondering if you could recommend other mobos (£110 or under), other GPUs for 1080p / 1440p gaming (£110 or under - i'm in London if it helps) and a case for £30 or under.

Best of luck trying to decipher what I have written and thanks in advance,

Lex

your alternatives for GPU would be an RX 580, but since lightroom is Cuda accelerated, your pick of the 1060 is best.

what specific power supply?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I had been thinking the same about the 1060, I did also look into the 1070 and was able to find them for around £150 so I may upgrade the gpu.

The psu ive been looking at is this one - https://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-evga-80-plus-fully-wired-sli-crossfire-single-rail-40a-plus12v-120mm-fan-atx-psu?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5MLrBRClARIsAPG0WGwnDkHbjZ4Hx_89gZvsLQrG-tyWT6xUqKhQipRVGkXxysF3LiA0hAcaArf1EALw_wcB -

However ive also found this one - https://www.scan.co.uk/products/600w-evga-fully-wired-80plus-sli-crossfire-single-rail-49a-120mm-quiet-fan-atx-psu-black-psu?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5MLrBRClARIsAPG0WGz9kWTJ1B8_55D1LAwlMkJmu6ENFr5rot78sKGCmT7GT-w5NMc2pagaAll5EALw_wcB -

for if i were to purchase a 1070. I have not checked the connectors so it may be no good but its a good example of what im aiming for.

The mobo you listed is a bit lacking in features, is there a mobo you know of that is £100 or under that will be ok for 3200mhz ram, has usb 3.1 for both back io and front case io and has a few fan headers? Also possibly is able to oc the cpu a little without any instability?

Thanks for your help!

these are pretty cheap PSUs, if you plan to upgrade to higher end hardware in the future at least get this

of course, 500 watts goes a long way

USB 3.1 for front headers is not found in the £100 price point, and the one I linked has all of the other things you specified.
