Very old PC Help

Hi

 

I bought a crappy pre built PC many years ago which I will use today.

 

It is an Advent 1410 specs below

 

CPU	Intel Quad Core Processor i5-2320 (3.0GHz)
Motherboard	Foxconn H61MXL/H61MXL-K
Memory	6GB DDR3 1333MHz (2 memory slots. Max 16GB)    It is still running on 32 bit windows but it wont let me upgrade, I can see the PC states its a x86 system which would be why but the chipset and CPU both support 64 bit can someone help? Its blocking me playing a game due to RAM shortage which upgrading to 64 bit would resolve

It should say x64 or x86_64, but it shouldnt be a problem, this is indeed a 64 bit system.

Can you describe how its 'blocking' you from installing a 64 bit OS?

You can't just stack two instances of x86 on top of each other to get x64. You need to uninstall your x86 OS and install a x64 OS.

You have to do a clean install to change from 32 to 64.  Just making sure you are doing that.

yes. make sure you back up any important files first though
