Low transfer rates

Hi.

I have noticed that the transfer rates between disks on my system are low, at least lower than intel platform for the same tasks.

My system now has an ryzen 3600 paired with b450 tomahawk.

I checked the device manager and sata controller is which is installed is from Microsoft(standard sata ahci controller) and not AMD. Maybe that is the problem.

I have installed latest AMD Chipset Drivers (1.8.19.0915).

Any ideas?

what disks are the files being transferred between and what kind of files are being transferred?

make and model of drives plus the speeds you are getting will be helpful.

Keep in mind most drive usually dont max out their buses

I take a system image backup at the moment to an external disk.

I stopped the task and changed usb port. From front port(usb 3) to a rear ss port and now I'm getting 150mb/s. I was taking 20 before that.

 

Why front ports behave like usb2? Is there a separate usb3 driver for front ports?

What drives do you have ? Also are you trying to transfer from USB to USB or USB to pc?
