So my friend, who normal only play games on his ps4 pro recently got a pc, which is actually pretty darn good. It got a i5 4660 (something like that, cant remember), 8gb ram, some old crappy mobo with like only USB 1.0, and a single slot geforce gt 705. He is lookling for a new and better gpu for his system, as he wants to do some light video editing/light gaming. The only problem is that the power supply that his system have is only like 300w so soemthing like a 1060 or rx 480 probably wont be able to run. I thought a 1050 ti would fit SOME of his needs and it wont take that much power either. Maybe a 1650/1660, as if i remember correctly they dont need external power? Anyways yall might got some better solution to this.

I don't think USB 1.0 has been in use for over a decade, I believe USB 2.0 is what he's rocking.

A 1050 ti, if you get a good price, is a solid pick for those who need a GPU with no power connector, but any system you care about should have a decent PSU and any decent PSU has at least one 8 pin PCIe connector. Ergo an RX 570 becomes the de facto choice for budget gaming

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Yeh i dont think he read the entire thing. or he just dont understand anything about power supplies and all. anyways. seems like a 1050ti would fit his needs really good. I got an old ASUS cerberus 1050ti that i dont really use and only lays on my shelves all day. I did think about selling it to him for around 80$, thats at least if he wants a quick deal, he could probably look on the used market for any other 1050ti biding. But im pretty sure the 1050ti bidings will go over 90$ as people still think its the best budget gpu. Ive seen gpus like a rx 580 8gb being sold for like 100$ and no bidings while another 1050ti around 100$ with like 50 bidings. Lmao.

I would suggest he replace the PSU first. Honestly you can get a good 500 watt for ~$50. it will likely last a decade or so and can be used in a new build if your friend ever decides to do a full rig. maybe look for a newegg combo deal if in the US of a good GPU that will fit with a PSU like a rx570 and a PSU or GTX 1660 and a PSU either of those would probably be a good choice for his CPU

yes he can. or something with more watt if it is at a similar price. like what i did. i was going to buy a seasonic focus plus 750 watt gold+ psu. but funny enough the  Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 850W PSU was cheaper. so i went with that :D
