Old rig resurection

I got a old pc that i want to update to play some games. I dont know what to do first. Im on a tight budget also... and for the games, gta, ark, 

 

The motherboard is a Gygabyte ga-p55m-ud2 with a Intel i5 760 2.80ghz, 4x2gig of ram and a Nvidia gtx 580

What is the best, stay with an i5 or go to an i7

Does it worth it to put money on this old motherboard?

I dont have a max on my mind, i want to upgrade one piece at time, a slow build... i dont want to put money on something that will be incompatible with most of game next year...

like i said, gta with mod, ark...

i cant put like 1000$ on my pc for now but i want to upgrade it with some component that will be an investment. I dont want to buy the last gen graphic card but i want the best bang for the buck...

 

I know, its not easy to read my mind lol, i dont know what i want...

 

So for now, do i stay with this motherboard or it will be my first modification?

You cant really put a good cpu in that motherboard.

I would suggest going with a ryzen build. Get a gigabyte b450 and then a r3 1200.

And what is the best gpu to go with this setup? Im not planning upgrading my tv for now, so 1080p 60ghz will be more than enough
