Well, that's expected. Most laptops won't pass post if the built-in display is dead, and there's a good chance when you snapped it off you probably busted something else too. Keep trying Windows + P to toggle between the modes, and wait a few seconds between each subsequent press to see if it kicks in.

 

You're likely going to need a new machine, as ripping the screen off very well could have ripped something off the board, and most laptops don't have beep codes like the used to. some will have LED codes via the keyboard if it has LEDs to indicate things like caps lock.
