very descriptive there. check if power switch is turned on, front panel power connector is connected to the right pins and that the 24-pin connector is plugged in properly.

I've got a question on my motherboard it has a 8 pin and a 4 pin for the cpu but my psu only has a 8 pin for the cpu..

just plug in the 8-pin, the 4-pin isn't necessary.

that's not really related to the problem, though i guess not having those cables lying around makes it easier to check if you plugged something in the wrong connector.
