As of the fall, I will be a PhD student, and need to build a rig for running my models in Stata and R. Not at all related to that, I want to play games on the weekends. I have built intel systems in the past, and I'm excited to make an AMD build this time around. Additionally, this will be the first build I put together with my girlfriend, so I'm going to go for clean cable management and solid aesthetics.

NOTE: All parts, except desk, were purchased at Microcenter. CPU+MB bundle saved me $50. Every item except for the OS I got for prices at or lower than newegg/amazon pricing. If there are any questions on part choices, feel free to ask. 

 

I am having the desk moved to our new apartment on Thursday, 8/8/19- Once we get that sorted, the build will commence!!

Update time! The Desk has been moved to the loft, in addition to my office chair. The chair is a La-Z-Boy Bradley Executive Desk Chair in black. Desk is a circa early 2000's Steelcase single left pedestal desk (as mentioned in previous post). 

 

Some new additions! I have ordered a surge protector from Amazon, the Belkin 12-Outlet Power Strip Surge Protector w/ 8ft Cord rated for 3,940 Joules. I also got a fairly simple 2.1 audio setup, with the Logitech Z323 2.1 system. I don't need exceptional audio on the speakers, since I will be using some Sennheisers while I game most of the time (specific model to be determined soon). 

 

I'm excited to get the build underway, and will be posting more pictures of the process once we get started!
